An OT simplifies daily routines into manageable steps, labels cupboards and rooms for orientation, removes fall hazards, installs safety devices like stove guards, trains caregivers in cueing and prompting techniques, and identifies meaningful activities the person can still enjoy. OT focuses on preserving remaining abilities, not fixing what is lost.
