My child is behind on milestones, rolling, sitting, crawling, walking or talking

Your child is clearly behind the usual timeline, not sitting by 9 months, not walking by 18 months, using only a few words at age two, struggling to feed themselves at three.

What this could mean

Missed gross motor milestones may point to cerebral palsy, muscle weakness, developmental delay, or premature-birth sequelae. Missed fine motor and self-care milestones often overlap with developmental coordination disorder or intellectual disability. Every missed milestone deserves evaluation, not watchful waiting.

What to do next

Ask your paediatrician for a developmental review AND a paediatric OT assessment in parallel, early intervention in the first 3 years of life produces the biggest long-term gains. Public early-intervention services (CBR, PPRK) and private OT both work; the key is to start.
